New Arrivals

There are 2 long awaited new books from Rowan – now on our website. Vintage Designs to Knit by Kim Hargreaves and Aran Knits by Martin Storey, which has already sold out (sorry)… but don’t worry more are expected very soon.

Vintage Designs to Knit has a wide range of Kim’s patterns from her years as a designer for Rowan, which have been collected together in one book. The varied collection ranges from chunky jackets and sweaters to elegant tops and cardigans. There are also substitute yarns for those patterns that were originally in yarns that have been discontinued.

We have some newly arrived luxurious undyed yarns in stock, two lace weights – one with a sparkle, a fine lace and a sparkle DK.

Imagine these knitted up – beautiful shawls and scarves, in time for the festive season.

There is a choice of 2 free patterns with the yarn too.

And don’t forget we are open this SATURDAY (3rd December) from 12 till 5pm, see you then.

The long awaited Rowan Lace Book finally arrives

We have taken delivery of our first batch of Rowan Lace Books and a few lucky folk will be receiving them very soon.  We are hurrying to get them out as quickly as possible. We hope to get the pictures of the patterns up on the website tomorrow, but I can tell you they are as gorgeous as the shades.   6 New Colours of Rowan Fine Lace

Although there does seem to be a bit of confusion on the number of shades of Rowan Lace, we do have all 16 shades in stock.

The book is an exquisitely feminine collection of 14 women’s designs, 7 garments and 7 accessories.  Graceful and perfectly fragile, the collection includes designs by Marie Wallin, Lisa Richardson, Sharon Miller, Amanda Crawford, Jennie Atkinson, Martin Storey for both knitting and crocheting garments, shawls and scarves.

I am wondering if I have the patience (or time) to knit Cameo (above), so exquisite.  Of course which shade would be another headache – I do love the Vamp red, the Noir black and the Aged teal shades, but I suppose a paler colour for this would make it easier on the eyes when knitting and show the lace pattern more effectively.

Other new arrivals are the revamped Noro Silk Garden Lite, 12 sensational shades with pattern support from Jenny Watson in City Girls, and the new shades in Noro Kogarashi.

The new seasons yarns and books are still arriving and it is difficult to keep up with them all, so please forgive me if I have missed some out.  When it is quieter (when?) I will try and catch up.

Natural Dye Studio Stardust Lace Cowl

I have finally finished and blocked the cowl that I knitted with the skein of Stardust Lace I acquired ( we hope to have it back in stock soon ).  The sparkle in the yarn catches the light beautifully, unfortunately I don’t think it is easy to catch on camera so you’ll have to take my word for it.

The pattern will be available soon, any lace weight yarn could be used, all that’s needed is 100g / 800m –  Manos Del Uruguay lace, Rowan Kidsilk Haze, Debbie Bliss AngelNoro Sekku to name a few we have in stock at the moment. August will bring a new lace from Rowan too – Fine Lace. There is quite a selection of fibres, colours and textures available, so something for everyone!
