Recently awarded with an MBE for her services to hand knitting and the craft industry, Debbie Bliss has released a long awaited new yarn collection.

The yarn is a gorgeous luxury sock yarn with super wash wool and is made up of 75% wool & 25% Polymide. This brand new yarn is currently available in 14 shades, the yarn can be ordered now and will dispatched on Wednesday 6th January 2016.

Yarn Shop Day!

We had a great time at Yarn Shop Day on the 3rd of May and it was lovely to meet so many wonderful knitters 🙂

So what did we get up to?

Well, we had Andy from the Chester Wool Company here with his beautiful luxury undyed yarns and some yummy Fyberspates too:

And in the afternoon Louisa Harding arrived with gorgeous samples from her latest collections, including her new book; Knits From An English Rose.

We had demonstrations of knitting techniques too, in Kitchener stitch, magic loop, Judy’s magic cast on, cabling without a cable needle, fixing a dropped stitch, mattress stitch and Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy cast off.

….. And for those who were in need of refreshment, we had lots of yummy cake!

Thank you to everyone who came along, we hope you all had as much fun as we did!

The new Debbie Bliss Magazine

We were very happy this morning opening one of our deliveries to find the new Debbie Bliss Magazine.

There are a range of fabulous new patterns, garments for the family and household projects, ranging from cushion covers to baskets. There are articles on lace knitting and mohair, her new Angel yarn, a mohair and silk mix, shows off the lacy patterns beautifully.

The interview with Julie Arkell is a fascinating insight into one of the UK’s contemporary folk artist. Julie combines knitting with other crafts, embroidery and papier-mache feature strongly.

The one of the other exciting sections in Debbie’s latest magazine is the article on where she has visited this past year and of course we feature! We hosted an afternoon with Debbie to exhibit her Autumn / Winter range last October

There is plenty to read and plenty to dream over and plan.
