Louisa Harding Charity Trunk Show Success

So we held our Louisa Harding Charity Trunk Show event here last Wednesday and the whole thing was a HUGE SUCCESS! Yay! The event was for ticket holders only and raised £400 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and to support Louisa with her rough trek in Nepal.

Louisa giving a talk

All attendees received 15% off the Louisa Harding range throughout the day.

For those that don’t know, to help Louisa achieve her fundraising target she has designed a series of hats asking only for a donation to the cause. The patterns are called ‘Himalayan Hiking Hats’ and she aims to get a photograph of herself wearing each hat on the first 6 days of her trek with the 7th hat being knitted during the trip and photographed on the 7th day. The staff here at Stash and our regular customer have all been very excited for the last couple of weeks to meet the lovely Louisa, have a root in her stash, get help and advise from her, and all show off our Himalayan Hats!

The day was full of cakes, knattering knitters, and book signing the atmosphere was great. There was a raffle held with two prizes where Louisa and Helen Probert drew out the winners. The winners were two lovely ladies who had even come to the event together! Julie McCoy from Handforth, Wimslow won a bag of Louisa Harding Amitola yarn with a signed copy of the Amitola pattern book and Hazel Illingworth from Cheadle, Cheshire won a bag of Louisa Harding Orielle yarn and a signed copy of the Orielle pattern book. All the prizes were kindly donated by Designer Yarns Limited.

Saturday Afternoon Treat

I am sitting here looking at the new Rowan Fine Tweed in Buckden, which is a pale tweed grey, and I am starting a swatch so that those of you who can make it on Saturday afternoon,  can have a play!  We have a vast selection of the new yarns available for you to try and then there is the hard decision about what to knit first.

The Fine Tweed is slubbier (is that a word?) than the Scottish Tweed 4ply was and, I think, softer.  With 24 shades to choose from there is a shade for everyone. It is knitting up amazingly, giving a slightly mottled effect.

The Rowan Tweed comes in 18 shades and knits as a DK so very versitile.

This is just a small taste of what’s available on line and in store – especially for those who we will see on Saturday for coffee and cake, yes Helen is making some more delicious cakes for us, and tea if you desire.

Saturday Opening

 Saturday Opening Treat

As the new Autumn / Winter seasons yarns and books will be out at the beginning of August we are opening on Saturday 13th August from 12am till 5pm as a special treat for all our customers especially those who are unable to visit us during our normal opening hours.   So everyone has the opportunity to browse the new patterns and swoon over the new yarns… most of the new seasons pattern books are available for pre-order.

There are some scrumptious new yarns coming out –

Rowan Fine Lace Yarn and Creative Focus Worsted Yarn  to name a few from Rowan.  With Debbie Bliss bringing out a chunky version of her popular Rialto, Rialto Chunky and Paloma a knitted chunky merino alpaca mix.

One of Louisa Harding’s new yarns is Grace Hand-Beaded , a silk wool mix with beads – it is a gorgeous yarn for garments or accessories or edgings.

Just a few to get you planning…. don’t forget Saturday 13th August.  See you then

Scarves for Christchurch

We have a growing selection of scarves coming into the shop ready for shipping to Glassons, Christchurch.  Here are some of them.

We do have some yarn available for knitting up, if you’d like to come and collect some.  Remember we will be sending them out on 14th May

Knitting Scarves in aid of the New Zealand Earthquake

I had a lovely surprise at the beginning of the week when someone close to my heart walked into our office at Stash with a big bag of luxury yarn. It was to help towards the knitting of scarves for the New Zealand Eathquake Appeal, how pleased was I!

So just to let all you lovely, kind, creative folk know that if you feel you can spare a bit of knitting time (I know its precious!) to help with this cause, please call in at the shop and pick up some yarn – FOC, to knit a scarf for NZ.

These scarves are going to be sold in NZ Department store “Glassons” for $25 each and all proceeds are to go towards the Earthquake appeal. Our very dear friend Karen aka A Knit On the Side(on Ravelry) who is a Kiwi herself and has family affected by the quake is very busy knitting all sorts of scarves ready to be sent off.The team here are too.

All I ask is that you can get the finished items back to us by 14th May please. Scarves need to 1.5 metres long.

I hope you all have a good and peaceful Easter xx Helen and Steve xx
