Zimmerman style workshop

Beryl has been with us all day teaching a group of ladies how to knit Zimmerman style.

The noise level does rise occassionally but generally they have been very quiet as they concentrate on using one hand to knit with and the other to purl with.

Here’s what they are aiming for

We have had a little time to start an SMC Lofty scarf, here’s what we have so far…

We discovered the further apart you space your stitches the fluffier the scarf is.

Knitting Workshop

We have had a group of ladies in today, some learning to knit and others brushing up on their knitting skills. They have been vey busy all day and kept supplied with homemade cakes and biscuits (thank you Katie – I have managed to sneak a piece of cake … yummy).

We still have a few spaces left on the October workshop for learning to knit Zimmermann style (fair isle knitting with 2 hands!). Hopefully Katie will be able to bake some cakes….

New Lopi Patterns

An order placed on Tuesday morning to Iceland (and we’re not talking frozen foods) arrived first thing this morning!  Talk about service.  So we have more Alafoss and Lett Lopi to replenish our shelves and 18 new patterns.  The new arrivals are single patterns featuring traditional fairisle style sweaters using Alafoss Lopi.

Take a look at the patterns and decide which one you’d like for your next project….

We are waiting for Book 30 as it is being translated from Icelandic into English as I type! Watch this space…

More socks

We have had some more new sock yarn from Regia – Regia World Circus Colour.  We believe this to be a limited edition yarn and we have already sold out of one colour!  It’s going out that fast.

It knits up to give stripes and fairisle effect, and is available in a range of colours – muted and bright. I think it would also make groovy scarves and gloves!
