What a colourful day we all had..

Last Saturday we hosted our first workshop here in the Yarn Barn.  It was run by Rowan Design Consultant Heike Gittins, who delighted us by introducing us to the different ways we can use colour combinations in our work

All present seem to have a lovely time and I think quite a few friendships were formed on the day. If you don’t want to miss out on the fun our next workshop is on Friday 12th September, Heike will be showing you how to make a project for washine machine felting! Book early to avoid disappointment, spaces are limited.

For more information on Heike Gittins visit her website here or her ravelry page here.

Happy knitting!

Busy, busy days……..

Wow, we have been non stop over the last 48 hrs with all the excitement of Debbie Bliss’s new yarns and books  arriving yesterday!  They are so gorgeous – having seen and touched them all last March in Cologne when I placed the order with Debbie, I had forgotton how wonderful they really are!  The Donegal Luxury Tweed colours and patterns are to die for!  I don’t know what I am going to knit first.  Then there is an absolutely fab cable man’s sweater in the Rialto Aran book which would really suit my son Gareth.  We have also had all the new shades in of Louisa’s current yarns in as well (photos to follow shortly), and her new Venice collection should be in very, very soon!

Next week will see the arrival of all the Rowan and RYC yarns and books.  Again, some really great project ideas – I think the “Cocoon” could steal the Rowan show!!! We still have a few places left on the Freeform crochet workshop that Eileen Gorry is hosting for us on Saturday July 28th.

Catch up with you all soon Helen x

Crochet Workshop

Yesterday (Saturday) saw the first of our summer/autumn workshops with a full house of eager ladies all keen to pick up their hooks and get tied up in knots!

The workshop theme was a beginners crochet workshop to learn the basic stitches which so often these days are appearing in knitting patterns. Doubles, trebles and chains were introduced leading on to more challenging stitches. Morning drinks, buffet lunch and afternoon refreshments were a much welcomed break to the ‘happy hookers’.

Eileen’s vast knowledge and creative skills were passed on to an eager class, some of which have already booked for future workshops!

We look forward to our next workshop ‘Intarsia Colour Workshop’ on Wednesday 11th July. Which I’m sure will be as popular and as rewarding to all who attend as this one was.

Further information regarding our workshops can be found on the website at http://www.celticove.com/acatalog/Knitting_and_Crochet_Workshops_at_Stash_Fine_Yarns.html

Check out this blog for a fabulous review of our workshop, thanks Helen!
